HPSC Collaborative Healthcare Series

The University of Illinois at Chicago hosts a wide variety of health professions schools unmatched by any university in the area. With this in mind, HPSC created UIC’s first ever inter-professional leadership series. By participating in the Collaborative Healthcare Series (CHS), students will gain a better understanding of the healthcare system as a whole and an appreciation for their field within the system. Students will also network with other health professions students and gain leadership skills necessary to thrive in their respective fields.

Please check the attachments below for the HPSC Collaborative Healthcare Series Passport and Certificate Application.

The following requirements must be met in order to receive the HPSC Collaborative Healthcare Series Designation:
  • 2/4 HPSC Collaborative Healthcare Series Lecture Events
  • 1/4 CMSC (College of Medicine Student Council) leadership seminars
  • 1 Event at each health professions school (6 events total)
  • 1 HPSC meeting
  • 1 service event (e.g. Health Fair)

For College of Medicine students, the following additional requirements must be met:

  • 2/4 CMSC (College of Medicine Student Council) leadership seminars
  • Attend 1/4 Dialogue with Deans
  • Attend CMSC Leadership Retreat

All events held by the college are eligible pending approval. HPSC Representatives must submit a proposal for approval (and funding if needed) at: Representative CHS Event Proposal. Successful completion of the CHS is limited to the 2014-2015 school year and results in various honors designated by the respective colleges.

*An event may be a lecture, workshop, conference, social service event, etc. hosted by a student organization, the university, a local not-for-profit organization, professional organization, hospital or others that focuses on the medical profession, health care, and/or leadership. Each school is responsible for hosting one event specifically for the leadership series. Topics typically cover topics like career paths, a day in the life of a professional, and much more. Attending these events is an easy way to gain credit towards the leadership series and to learn more about other health professions. Endorsed events are eligible to receive funds from HPSC separate from the project grants. Contact your HPSC representatives for more information.
